My Skin Will Have The Vegetarian Dish, Please

I am a big believer in the theory that if you feel good on the inside it will show on the outside. Alternatively, what you choose to put on the outside has the same effect. My skin is on a strict vegetarian diet. That's right, I've made the choice to use only organic products on my skin - and Damsels, you should too! My skin is absolutely loving me for it. Gone are the days of ugly zits and redness, they've been replaced by bright, glowing, luminous skin! It's like someone has installed a bright halogen light under my face. And yes, I've been on the receiving end of comments such as "Wow! you are absolutely glowing!" followed by, "..is there something you're not telling us?!" to which I reply, "Actually, yes! I've stopped using chemicals on my face." And the benefits have been endless. It makes sense too doesn't it? If you eat healthy, ie. heaps of organic food - vegetables, fruits, etc. - your body benefits from it. So wouldn't it be the same for your face? I quit using your typical drugstore products years ago, when, as with my skin being sensitive and all, I kept breaking out because the chemicals were too harsh for my face. I was then told by a skin specialist that I should explore the avenue of 'organic skin products'. Within a week I noticed the difference. My skin was no longer dry, it was more plump and clearer. Happy days! I've test-drived a lot of organic products over the years and my all time favorite would have to be the Australian brand 'Sukin' - I love love love their creme cleanser - (and it smells like fruit tingles! Yum!)  I've even gone so far as to apply the vegetarian regime to my hair as well! Kevin Murphy produces an absolutely fantastic range of shampoos and conditioners made wholly from plants and natural minerals and is not tested on animals. And surprisingly, both products mentioned don't cost an arm and a leg like most organic products out there. Trust me when I say Damsels, that investing in an organic skincare regime will probably be one of the best things you will ever do for your face. Wonder how stars such as supermodels Miranda Kerr and Gisele Bundchen always have perfectly clear skin? They both use organic skincare! And if you're still not convinced;

  • Organic skin care is wholly natural; derived from plants. Therefore completely chemical-free meaning there are no side effects. And they are Eco-friendly and not tested on animals (hooray!)
  • Organic products are more effective than synthetic skincare products. Natural ingredients work in harmony with your skin and lets it breathe.
  • Organic skincare is processed via Eco-friendly means, therefore avoiding unnecessary use of pesticides and chemicals, and promoting bio-friendly farming.
  • They smell better! Because organic skin care is made largely from essential oils such as fruits and flowers, you can avoid that yucky intense chemical-smell you get from normal over-the-counter products.
  • It won't dry your skin out. The natural ingredients work in unison with your natural moisture levels in the skin.

Now, which products would I recommend? Here are my favorites;

Sukin

I use every product in this range - I love it. Affordable, lovely packaging, and the best smell! Sukin is the number 1 selling natural Skin care brand in Australia and do not contain Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS), Sodium Laureth Sulphate (SLES),  synthetic fragrances, animal derivatives, harsh detergents, propylene glycol, artificial colours, triethanolamine, mineral oils, EDTA, or parabens. http://www.sukinorganics.com/

KORA Organics by Miranda Kerr

An organic skin care range made by Miranda Kerr? Yes, please! KORA organics uses only the highest quality certified organic and natural ingredients and offers products for every skin type. It is not cheap, but Damsels it's a small price to pay for natural feel-good beauty! http://www.koraorganics.com/

Sejaa Pure Skin Care by Gisele Bundchen

Another range of organic skin care products produced by the highest-paid supermodel in the World, Gisele Bundchen. Good enough for her? Good enough for me. And with its gorgeous environmentally-friendly packaging and 100% natural ingredients, I'm smitten. http://shopsejaa.com/letter.php

Alba Botanica Hawaiian Skin Care

This one is a gooden, and I almost forgot about it! I actually came across this range while looking for head bands at my local chemist. The bright yellow packaging just screamed "BUY ME!" and when I picked it up I saw that it too is 100% organic made from aloe and green tea. It is literally paradise in a pot! Just the smell of it takes you away to a tropical island. I'm a fan of the natural Hawaiian oil-free moisturizer. So decadent and won't clog up your pores! http://www.albabotanica.com/collections/natural-hawaiian-skin-care.html

Go organic. Your skin will not regret it! Promise.
